Victoria POV When the guards had left, I quickly rushed up to the little child who was lying almost lifeless on the ground. “You are okay.”

She started coughing violently, and then she murmured a few words. “I need water.”

I turned to see if I could ask the skinny lady for water, But I couldn’t find her in the cell, “That’s strange. She was right here with me a few minutes ago; where has she gone, too?”

“There is no water, And I can’t get out of here to get you water.”

I needed clarification about what to do. I had never been in this situation before where I had to help a dying person. Suddenly, an idea popped up in my head, and I quickly rushed to the cell’s entrance and started hitting it.

“Hello, please, I need help. Is anyone here, please? I need help… hello,”

I didn’t get any response from anyone, But I could hear some of the enslaved people whispering among themselves. “It seems she doesn’t know that she’s in a slave establishment; she thinks she’s still in her father’s house; wait until Sir Vincent gets to hear of this.”

I ignored their words and continued to bang on the cell iron; two guards walked in just then. “Don’t you realize you are disturbing everyone else’s peace here, woman? ” “ Sorry to disturb you, but please, I think this person needs water.”

They kept staring at me as if they had seen a funny play. “What did you just say?” “ I said this little girl here needs water. Can you please get her water to drink?”

The other guards whispered something into the ears of the guard standing in front of the cell; suddenly, his smile fell off. “How did she get in here without passing the normal check routine?”

“I don’t know. You should ask James about this. “I have told you people so many times. You should be careful if Sir Vincent finds out that she doesn’t have the slave mark; your head would have been separated from your neck. ” “ So what are we going to do now? ” “ Do the right thing, of course.” I listened to every one of their conversations, And I was trying so hard to process everything they just said; so, in conclusion, they said that They were going to give me the slave mark, and I began panicking. “Oh my God, please save me from this mess.” Suddenly, the cell door opened, and the other guard entered, grabbed my hand, and pulled me out. The other guard standing at the entrance was fast enough to catch me. “You are a beautiful girl.” He turned to touch my face, But I quickly removed his hand. ” “ Let go of my face.”

He smiled at me again, but he showed me his teeth this time. I couldn’t look at his face because he was so ugly, and his teeth were all brown. I quickly looked away from his face.

“What’s the matter, beautiful? You haven’t seen someone as handsome as I am before. ” “ In your dreams.”

When I said no words to him, He dragged my hair backward and pulled me to the ground; I yelled out loud in pain. “Let go of my hair. ” “ Shut up, you bitch ..you are forgetting so soon that you are nothing but a slave.”

He dragged me out and took me to a dark room; he forcefully knelt me down, took a hot iron, and pierced my skin. I screamed out loud in pain; tears kept flowing down my eyes. I had peace and everything I wanted: a man who loved me and a family who adored me, but everything changed in one Night.

I should have rejected her offer when Alice came to my house and begged me to follow her because she wanted to deliver some potatoes. My mother told me to stay back at home because it was late. Due to the recent killings by night creatures in the nearest village, I tried my best to reject her offer, But I couldn’t because she was like a sister to me.

Now, look where I found myself. What would happen to my parents now? I wonder how they will feel when they discover I have gone missing.

The guards picked me up and dragged me back to the cell; I had no power to protest or fight with them. The injury on my back was hurting me so badly that I couldn’t move a muscle. They opened the cell and threw me in, Then locked it up again.

I used my last strength to sit up. Suddenly, I heard the skinny woman’s voice. “You are very stubborn; if you had stayed in a place, you wouldn’t have gotten the slave mark. Now see what you caused yourself. ” “ Where did you go to? You just disappeared into thin air. ” “ I was here, and it’s just that no one else can see me except you. ” “ What do you mean no one else can see me expect me? ” “ Do you believe in ghost Victoria… ” “ What are you trying to say. ”

I raised my hand to slap my cheek, but I stopped halfway because of the pain I felt on my back. ” “ So, why can I see you?

I mean, you just wanted to appear to me alone. “No, I am surprised that you can see me. I have been here for over two decades now, and no one has been able to see me except you.”

I looked around but couldn’t find the little girl they had bought her, so I asked the skinny lady about it. “Where is the little girl that was brought here? ”

“She’s dead. ” “ What…. ” “ It seemed everything around me stood still. I kept staring into spaces, and tears were flowing down my eyes.
