Two Stubborn Alphas For One Lycan, chapter one
Chapters one to three are free: no card, no account.
Koa’s POV Sometimes I think I can see the future. I know it sounds crazy, but I really think I can. I have these dreams and sometimes they seem so real… unnaturally real.
And then they come true. Months, years, days or even minutes later. People don’t really understand, so I just say it’s deja vu.
“Koa, come on, kid. At least do your hair, please.”
My mum let out an annoyed sigh and I rolled my eyes, I hated her calling me kid. I hated her calling me a kid. I was anything but.
I got up from the table and walked to one of the half bathrooms on the main floor and looked at my hair. Personally, I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I liked it when it was wild like that.
My hair was jet black and a good length. It had grown straight, but the longer it got, the curlier the ends. I grabbed one of the ties my sisters had left lying around and pulled it up into a messy bun on my head.
I hated having my hair back because it allowed my face to be seen. I know it sounds weird, but I hated people looking at me. My face was unique, different from most.
I mean, I had the usual features. Nice jawline, nice cheekbones. Thick, dark, long eyelashes.
A perfectly sculpted nose. I had a mole on my full lips and under my right eyebrow. I had a piercing in my left nostril and both my ears were pierced.
But what I hated were my eyes. They were sterling grey, with a blue ring around the rim. My pupils were deep black.
My mother hated the fact that I liked to hide my eyes. She told my sisters and me that we should be proud of our origins. We were the direct descendants of the goddess of the moon and her companion.
Our lineage held a power that no other werewolf or lycan possessed. As for my family, we were lycans, different from werewolves. More powerful in every way.
Stronger, faster. Stealthier. Physically.
I’d just turned 21 and I was already a giant. I was one metre ninety and very well built. Thick biceps, hard abs and strong legs.
In a word, I was hot. I walked out of the bathroom and back into the kitchen, where my dad had finished breakfast and my three sisters, Kendall, Kona and Khelani, were sitting at the table. They were sitting at the table talking about their first day at school.
Our first day at school. They as students. Me as a teacher.
Our pack, Crescent Hill, full of lycans like us, had moved to a pack of werewolves who needed our help. The Shadow pack was strong, one of the biggest, but that can attract a lot of rogues. In their case, that was the case.
Their alpha had called my father, the alpha and leader of Crescent Hill, and he’d decided to move us out for the time being. My father was a strong man. I was big.
He was bigger. I was mean. He was ruthless.
I had a temper. He was full of rage. I loved him.
After all, I was his carbon copy. We looked alike. Except that my arms were covered in tattoos.
My mother was the opposite. Sweet, kind, gentle. Nurturing.
I would have protected her at the risk of my life. My sisters looked like her. Her brown skin and curly hair.
My sister kept her brown colour and her curly hair, but not as thick. The only thing that resembles me and my mother is my eyes. “That’s much better, Koa. You need to look presentable.”
My mum came over and kissed me on the forehead as I sat down at the breakfast table to join me. The only reason I didn’t have my own house was because I was next in line to lead the pack. Fortunately, this house was huge and gave us more than enough space.
Especially as Kendall had already found her mate and was here almost every day. “I don’t know why Koa has to work, he shouldn’t be with Dad. I pushed my plate away and leaned back in the chair. I turned to Khelani who was questioning my mother and she sat down. “Don’t question them,” I said in a calm, collected voice. Khelani rolled her eyes at me and leaned back. She was the youngest of us, at 14, and she was in her first year this year. Kendall and Kona were both 18. But only Kendall had found her mate. But they turned 18 a few months ago. “We need to fit in with the pack, make them feel safe with us. This will strengthen our bond if we have to fight thieves. Koa has offered to take up the post of history teacher.” Dad was talking about me with pride, and it made my lycan Alister and me puff out our chests. “Koa the saint,” Kona said, looking at me. A small smirk spread across my face. There was a knock on the door and Kendall immediately got up and ran to the door. A few seconds later, Taya, his companion, entered. She was a pretty girl, to put it mildly, and she made Kendall happy, and that’s all that mattered. Taya walked in with a smile on her face as she looked around at everyone. She spent more time here than she did at home. I didn’t mind. The house was big enough for me not to hear their… activities. Taya kissed him and that made my heart squeeze. Alister turned his head slightly away and let out a glass of sweet wine. It had been three years since I’d turned 18 and unlike other lycans, I hadn’t been lucky enough to have a companion. Usually, lycans meet their partner on their birthday, because it’s always another lycan. But I wasn’t lucky. Soon. We’ll meet her soon. Alister spoke up, sensing my jealousy. I hope so. Who knows, she might be a werewolf. I almost felt like throwing up at the thought. There was no hatred towards them. It’s just that werewolves are weak. I already knew I’d protect my mate as a lycan, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be if she was a werewolf. “We’ll all behave in the best possible way, won’t we? My father asks, his eyes resting mostly on Khelani. ‘The girls all agree. ‘You’ll be going to the same school as the alpha’s sons, so try not to cause them too much trouble. Let them know that Lycans are creatures of class and esteem, descended from the moon goddess herself.” Mum was very proud of our lineage, as I was. Because we were direct relatives of the goddess, we had certain powers and abilities that other lycans didn’t have. “Koa, can you try to be less stoic? My mother took my hand and rubbed the back of it in a soothing way. It was her way of telling me that I should soften my gaze. I usually keep my face blank, emotionless. It’s better that way. It’s better if other people don’t know how I feel. That way, they can never use anything against me. “You have the most beautiful smile, you should show it to more people. She continued. I rarely smiled, preferring to keep it to myself or my family. I don’t know why, but I felt so vulnerable, I felt vulnerable doing it. “My love, leave the boy alone. Koa is a man of few words.” My dad teased and winked at me. “Oh, Channing.” She rolled her eyes and got up from the table. “Oh, Cynthia.” He teased her back. I watched them interact, the love they have for each other unmatched. I hope to be blessed like them one day. “I should go, I don’t want to be late. I stand up and push my chair towards the table. I quickly adjust my button-down shirt and trousers. “Kona, Khelani, go with your brother.” Kona gives an annoyed sigh and gets up to fetch her rucksack, Khelani follows. “Watch out for them. They’re going to have a hard time getting used to the presence of werewolves. And you know what werewolves are like. They’re arrogant creatures.” My father stopped me and patted me on the back. I nodded in understanding and grabbed my briefcase to head to the garage. I sat in the car and waited for the girls, but for some reason I felt extremely anxious. What’s wrong, Alister? I don’t know… I’m just on alert at school. I feel… something. I always do.
